From Russia, with love

Trump's presidency stumbles from one scandal to another in way not seen since the heady days of Ronald Reagan's crony government.

"By the end of his term, 138 Reagan administration officials had been convicted, had been indicted, or had been the subject of official investigations for official misconduct and/or criminal violations.  In terms of number of officials involved, the record of his administration was the worst ever."        from p. 184,Sleep-Walking Through History: America in the Reagan Years, by Haynes Johnson, (1991, Doubleday)
Of course it took Reagan 8 years to tally up to 138 unworthy officials but Trump is only on the job a month or so and is well on track to beat Reagan's record.

Trump's connection to Russia is unknown, because he wants to keep it that way.

He still has refused to release his taxes and no-one really believes he's not still running his companies or that those companies have no Russia contacts.

Trump is now under the greatest scrutiny possible and it won't go away and it won't move on.  Sooner rather than later we WILL learn all.

But for now it looks like his Attorney General has to go.  Trump's man mislead the Senate about his contacts with Russia at his confirmation hearings and that's unacceptable from the highest law enforcement official in the country.

Trump has already lost General Flynn, his National Security adviser, for exactly the same offence.  Now AG Sessions is on his way out.

Shortly after President Trump expressed “total” confidence in his attorney general, Jeff Sessions announced he would recuse himself “from any existing or future investigations of any matters related in any way to the campaigns for president of the United States.” That statement came as Sessions faces criticism from Democratic lawmakers following reports that he did not disclose contacts he had with the Russian ambassador during his confirmation hearing last month.

There's never a greater indicator of an upcoming resignation that when someone like Trump declares their "confidence" in the individual under fire.  Sessions will be gone soon!

Trump will learn that you can brazen out a lot to things when you're in business but when you're in government it's a whole different ball game.

Even poor old Reagan had to own up in the end to the Iran-Contra dealings.

Trump will have to own up too!

It's only a matter of time.  In the meantime the tally of resignations from his government has begun.

Only 136 to go to beat Reagan's record.

And don't forget Reagan was younger than Trump when he became President!
