Leaving aside the questionable value and motivation of the US's involvement in the Vietnam War which questions the legitimacy of any soldier's involvement in the conflict (I was only obeying orders! etc) is John McCain a war hero?
To be a hero you must be heroic in action and in deed.
John McCain is undoubtedly very brave and strong during his captivty but does that make him a hero?

I don't want to sound dissrespectful or ignorant, but will someone explain to me what makes John McCain a hero. I hope its not that he got caught... wouldn't that mean he failed his mission.
