Bertie Ahern's is projecting his party's ability to hold its ground as a victory and endorsement for his government but it is more stagnation than a cause for celebration.

This coupled with the very murky area of his personal finances where he took money repeatedly from loads of different people while a serving member of the government is now hanging over him and any prospective partners.

The US Navy has carried out an attack on a Somali village where Islamist militants are reported to have set up a base.

Somali officials said a remote village in the Puntland region was bombarded, days after foreign militants arrived.

US reports suggest the target was an al-Qaeda operative suspected of involvement in the 1998 bombings of US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.

The strike would be at least the third by the US in Somali territory in 2007.

In early January, US forces tried to target three suspected members of al-Qaeda but were thought to have missed their targets.

Is Somalia and its villages a threat to world security (ie US security). All of the September 11th bombers came from Saudi Arabia yet how many bombs has the US dropped there?

This kind of thing is obscene. How many innocent Somalis died when their village was bombed?
