Bumbling Bertie bumbles water charges

5:30 PM 2
Not content with trying to bluff his way out of his massive and undeserved payrise by postponing it for a year Bumbling Bertie is trying to get out of the disgraceful situation of charging water rates to schools with the same tactic.

Admittedly Bertie Ahern is postponing the water charges for two years, rather than the 12 months he has to wait for his €38,000.

This is not a solution to the outrage of charging schools for a previously free supply, not only does it expose the myth of "free education" under Fianna Fail but it highlights the fact that it is just a political stroke designed to take pressure away from Fianna Fail until AFTER the next local elections.

Bumbling Bertie can only get away with it if you let him.

Bertie Ahern (pictured here) singing his heart out but not unfortunately to the Tribunal investigating all the payments he has received throughout his career in Government, nor the details concerning his house etc.
One wonders how much more is yet to come out about the "cunning" one?

Mining Resolution passed by Westport Town Council

1:30 PM 0

Westport Town Council has called on the Minister for Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, Eamon Ryan TD to protect the Cregganbaun and Doolough region from mining.

A motion proposed by Labour's Cllr Keith Martin and supported by Sinn Fein's Cllr Dave Keating was adopted unanimously by the council at this week's December meeting of Westport Town Council.

In the resolution the area is described as one of "great national and international significance as an environmentally sensitive, culturally and religiously important area" and highlighted the intrinsic value of the area as a tourism feature.

The resolution also lends its support to the concerns of local groups opposed to the Mining.
Speaking on the motion Cllr Martin said that the motion spoke for itself adding that he believed that the proposed for a small scale "seven dwarf type mine" was a front for the introduction of whole scale mining in the area. Cllr Dave Keating said that the proposal by the mining company was for a tourism mine which he described as an Oxymoron.

At the request of Cllr Martin a copy of the resolution is being sent by Westport's Town Clerk to Minister Ryan.

a) That this Council, whilst welcoming sustainable and environmentally friendly development, industry and the harnessing of natural resources, which leads to job creation and investment in and around Westport, shares the concerns of the interested parties such as Mayo Environmental Group and Westport Tourism Organisation in relation to the proposal to mine for gold in the Cregganbaun and Doolough region and calls upon the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, Eamon Ryan TD to protect this area of great national and international significance as an environmentally sensitive, culturally and religiously important area with a massive intrinsic tourism value.

Where's Willie? There he is picking his nose!

10:49 AM 0

After disappearing after the Aer Lingus and Shannon fiasco with all his bluster and promises (which have come to nothing) Willie O'Dea has resurfaced at long last to say the Gardai should have the power to come in and search your home when ever they feel like it.

Willie, pictured here picking his nose, says Gardai should be able to search your house to see if you have any illegal drugs.

While Willie has done nothing for the people of Limerick or all those whose jobs depend on Shannon Willie is now concentrating on removing your civil liberties even in your own home.

Next to go?

2:16 PM 0

Micheal McDowell said the Progressive Democrats had to be radical or they would be redundant.

After the show down with John Gormley he lost his seat.

John Gormley has not been radical since he got into office, will he become redundant at the next election?

He will if he can't as Minister for Environment, Local Government stop the incinerator planned for his constituency.

He has already rowed back on Tara, Shannon and pretty much everything else.

He must be Radical or he will be redundant

Pole Dancing in Kilkelly

5:31 PM 0

Plans for a pole dancing club in Kilkenny have met with serious opposition from the town council. Councillors in the town have condemned the proposed club but claim they are powerless to stop it.

They claim the club exploits women and would draw unwelcome attention to the town as well as acting as a beacon to stag and even hen parties.

They are calling on the Ministers for Justice and Local Government to interceed.

Why not alter the town plan and prohibit such businesses in the town? In the meantime I have inserted a simple guide to basic pole dancing for those interested in this form of dance.

In Russia nothing changes, its just less messy

5:01 PM 0

Russia will have a coup when Putin steps down as President.

He will become Prime Minister.

Thus his puppet for President will allow Putin to continue running the country but as Prime Minister and not as President although he will be "de facto" President and Prime Minister.

While losing the title of President and taking the lesser job Putin is in fact increasing his power rather than decreasing it.

It is a coup, a legal and very tidy one. So just like the old days a dictatorship is established but without having to kill or repress anyone or close parliment or put troops on the streets.

In Russia nothing changes, its just less messy these days.

Bumbling Bertie bumbles pay rise

8:44 PM 0

Bertie has given in over the massive pay increase for himself.

Well actually he hasn't. All he has decided to do is to postpone his payrise of €38,000 for a year.

How he will suffer for that coming year always being short for teabags, worrying about his mortgage and trying to keep up with the Bushes and SARKOZYs with their houses and yaughts.

Does Bertie really think that by postponing his pay rise rather than declining it all together that people will forget that his pay rise is greater than the salaries of 1.5million workers in this country?

The man has lost his common touch. But that happens when you live in a house someone bought for you, when people give you money in Manchester, when you earn €250,000 a year, when you are driven in a state car everywhere.
